Need to know

We ensure your comfort and success in unfamiliar territory.

Before you get here.

We'll provide essential information to help you prepare for your hunting trip, including travel documentation requirements, firearm import regulations, recommended gear, dietary accommodations, booking terms, and transportation options. By reviewing these details, you'll be ready for a seamless and successful hunting experience.

What to bring.

  • Hunting gear (include a soft gun case)
  • Fishing tackle for spring bear hunts
Apparel: Warm winter apparel in November is a must. Raingear for the Spring Hunt should be included just in case! Hunters must wear an outer layer of clothing (from the waist up) of red, blaze orange, yellow or white. Headwear must be any of these colors except white. Camouflage for primitive weapon hunters only!

Saskatchewan hunting information.

A copy of the Saskatchewan Hunter’s Guide will be available before the hunt begins, as you must adhere to Saskatchewan Regulations while hunting with us. You can review the Guide online at www.environment.gov.sk.ca.

Trophy care and taxidermy.

Our guide staff is responsible for field care, boxing and getting your trophy ready for transport. If you decide you do not want to travel with your trophy. We suggest, world class taxidermist Rion White with ORION TAXIDERMY LTD. and RIGEL LOGISTICS to ensure your trophy is exported and shipped safely.

Criminal Record?

Don’t let a criminal record prevent travel to Canada; even a minor criminal offence committed years ago can prohibit entry. Contact Canada Border Crossing Services toll-free US 1-800-438-7020 or in Canada at (204) 488-6350. Email: info@bordercrossing.ca or check out there website www.bordercrossing.ca.

Presently, Canada gives its Immigration Officers discretion as to whom they admit and under what circumstance. Anyone with a DUI may be refused entry; however, the individual may apply for a Minister’s Permit for a fee of $200.00 (CND) or a Permanent Certificate of Rehabilitation for $1000.00 (CND).

As of June 28th, 2002 those with offences of more than 10 years old may be admitted without paying the $200 fee under a new “deemed rehabilitation” clause. Those with criminal offences less than 10 years old may still be refused entry and be required to pay the processing fee. In Canada, DUI is governed under the Criminal Code while in the U.S. it is more likely to be considered a less serious offence.

Please call (306) 927 2335 for more information or to obtain a brochure entitled “Criminal Entry in Canada”. If you have had any form of a criminal record, as minor as it may seem to you, confirm entry into Canada prior to departing.

Food allergies.

If you have food allergies or require a special diet, please inform us in advance and we will do everything necessary to ensure all dietary needs are met.

Terms and conditions of booking.

A 50% deposit is required to secure your booking and is due 7 days after booking. The balance owing will be due one month before arrival, and must be paid by certified cheque or cash only.

No personal cheques will be accepted for the balance owing. Deposits are non-refundable but may be transferred to another hunter.

Bringing firearms into Canada.

Regulations for temporarily importing firearms into Canada are in effect. The Non-Resident Firearms Declaration (Form CAFC 909 EF) must be presented in triplicate, and unsigned, to a customs officer at your first point of entry into Canada. Forms can be downloaded from www.rcmp-grc.gc.ca.

There is an annual Dept of Justice fee of $25.00 (CND). Canada Customs will pre-process hunters arriving at the Saskatoon airport as their first point of entry into Canada.

If you have any questions, please call 1-800-731-4000 or in Saskatoon by Phone (306) 975-4755 or Fax (306) 975-5917. You should check with U.S. Customs regarding any other requirements.

Getting here.

The U.S. and Canada Customs require all persons traveling by air or land to have a valid passport.  For those flying, transportation to Saskatoon from all major cities in the USA and Canada is available by commercial airlines.

If you wish to drive, there are paved highways from Saskatoon to the Chitek Lake area.

We also have a couple hotels only minutes away from the Saskatoon airport.

We recommend the Sandman Hotel Saskatoon or the brand new Courtyard Marriot Saskatoon Airport. Just tell them you are hunting with NSWHunts and would like the outfitter program rate. Along with the use of there deep freezer space at no additional charge.
